Welcome to the Conception Bay South Fire Department web site.  The CBSFD was formed in 1973 and at that time was a total volunteer force.  In 1990 the department expanded it's service to combine paid and volunteer staff to cover weekdays from 0800 to 1800.  In 2005 the department again expanded to cover weekends and holidays from 0800 to 1700 with permanent part time staff.  The current composite department has 39 volunteers, 19 full time and 3 part time personnel on the roster.  The department protects a town of approximately 24,000 residents offering fire suppression, vehicle extrication, basic life support on medical responses.  The department also has a very aggressive fire prevention and inspection program.
